T.G.I.F! We made it through the first week of school... though both high schoolers slept though blaring alarms this morning and had to be rousted manually (i.e. by Mom) so they could get to school on time. Did you realize there is no ceiling light fixture in my ugly duckling dining room? Several years ago, I had an electrician look at this problem and we discovered there is no wiring in the ceiling of this room. Remember these? Nothing like a little of this... So you can end up with these... I thought I would clean up the brass using Brasso, but when I got to cleaning and polishing, I noticed that several of the glass inserts were cracked in the corners and two flat out broke while I was working! 'The Vintage Birdcage Chandelier from Restoration Hardware.I think this piece is actually more appealing when you see it in a room...I love the look of the cage and chandelier itself, but the thick marine rope seems odd to me and the $2K price tag (yes, you read that right) is way out of reach for the vast majority of us.
