What I’m Reading, Working On, and Loving…

Reads July 2013

Happy Friday, friends!  Whew, what a week!  I know I promised a giveaway today, but I've decided to wait a bit to announce it... you see, Decor & More is getting a little work done.  :-D  Can you see how big I'm smiling??  I'm so excited about the fresh new look coming our way!  So because the site might be down a bit here and there for the next few days, it's not the best time to do a giveaway.  It's coming soon, I promise, though. … [Read more...]

It’s the Little Things (and NYC Recap)

Ikea pillow cover

The weekend already?  Jeez, time flies in the summertime... Thursday I journeyed down IKEA with my daughter to do some apartment shopping for her.   That place never ceases to amaze me, and I shopped IKEA in Northern Virginia back in 1989 for MY first apartment!  It was pretty cool then and it's even more so now... so of course I picked up a few little things for me, too. :) Like this $4 pillow cover for an insert I already … [Read more...]

He’s On His Way (and So Am I)

Jack me Alec

Well, I survived the send-off... Even big brother took his lunch hour to say bon voyage... And big sister got extra tight squeezes... Hope Spain and Portugal are ready for this group!! Only a few tears on my end and extra tight hugs on his end.  Thank you so much for your prayers as he embarks on this amazing journey to grow his faith. As for me, I'm headed to one of my favorite places...   to hang with … [Read more...]

Ten Things Tuesday…

Emperor's silk ASCP

Y'all I am scattered, smothered, and covered. Maybe it's all the short trips out of town on the heels of a crazy month of May. Maybe it's just summertime with a houseful. Maybe I just can't get my act together. When I sat down to write a post for y'all, my brain was all over the place.  So I decided to take you down the rabbit hole of my thoughts... 1.  I want a vegetable garden.  Not sure I want all the work that comes with … [Read more...]

DIY Burlap Flag Bunting

Good morning, friends!  I actually had a fairly relaxing weekend and am ready to enjoy another busy week -- how about you?  I spent time with my kids and a sweet neighbor poolside, got workouts in both days, enjoyed catching up on some reading and blogs, and worked on finishing up the console table.  Last night we took in two kids for the night while their parents finished up moving out of their house and into an executive apartment while they … [Read more...]

Happy Friday, friends!  I've had a good week and it's finally starting to feel like summer... I even slept until 9 a.m. one morning -- total decadence, people. :)  So today I'm sharing some "happies"  -- just because. Monday night, my daughter and two friends of ours went to a book launch party for one of my favorite local authors, Mary Kay Andrews, and her new book Ladies Night!   What a great party in a newly opened antique mall (!) … [Read more...]

Endings

group hug

Hello, gang! I'm so chock full of emotions these days, I can't even find words right now.  Those of you that have had crazy times of endings know what I'm saying... My guests have begun arriving, the party prep is ongoing, and tomorrow, this handsome guy will close out a chapter in his life (where did the time go???). I also said "goodbye" to my Little Ones yesterday, after a crazy gratifying emotional roller coaster of a day with … [Read more...]

Celebrating our Moms {Preschool Moms’ Tea}

burlap moss vase 2

I'm still alive, with a nasty head cold to show for my crazy week.  But yesterday was a sweet and special day at the preschool, when we hosted our moms for our annual Moms' Tea.  It was simple fare of cupcakes, tea, and coffee, but they enjoyed taking it all in.       The brown books are scrapbooks of art projects from the school year -- one for each month -- plus a couple of sweet little Q & … [Read more...]

Lake Living {Friday Eye Candy}

Annie's Lakemont

Last weekend, we were so fortunate to head to the lake and our aunt's cozy home for a quick getaway.  I think we were only gone a little more than 24 hours, but it was just the little break in the action we needed. On our way up, we stopped at a farmer's market called Jaemor Farms.  I love stopping here during the different seasons and loading up on what's fresh! They've got the most awesome fresh baked breads (we picked up blueberry … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist: Threshold Thursday

Target Threshold poufs

Hey there, friends... I had every intention of posting more guest room progress this week, but... Ah the joys of high school sports!  Your weekday evenings are not your own. :)  Truthfully, though, it's been a blast watching him work so hard, improve his skills, have some fun and finish their season undefeated (My boy scored the final goal!).    And not only do we have a team of good players (REALLY good players), we also … [Read more...]
